When AirRoad asked Sun Empire to reduce their electricity consumption at their new warehouse and office facility in the western suburbs of Melbourne, Sun Empire delivered with one of our German made Solar Systems. The system will help offset the electricity used in the office and will have a significant impact in reducing AirRoad's carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions. Completed October 2011, the 20.01 kW solar power system boasts:
SolarWorld Panels
Sun Empire have designed this system based on using the award winning German Solarworld 230 watt solar panel. In 2008 and 2009 Solarworld took out the world's top award for the best performing solar panel as tested by Photon Magazine based in Germany. Photon is the world's most trusted independent tester of solar products and our German Solarworld panel tested as the best of the best.
SMA Tripower Inverters
The system has also been designed using the most advanced 3 phase inverter on the market; the German made SMA 10000 Tripower. With up to 98.1% efficiency and a broad voltage range you will be guaranteed high energy yields from your system and seamless data communication capability.
SMA Data Communications
The SMA webbox enables connection into AirRoads intranet network and the ability to communicate solar power performance data to the internet, AirRoad's website and throughout the internal network.
With SMA's free data monitoring software solution "Sunny Portal", solar power data can be visualised on an internet based program including the daily and total yield of energy, the instantaneous power from the system, weather station data, voltages , currents etc. Data can also be seen in real time on the SMA IPhone app.
SMA's Sunny Matrix will also be installed showing data of the solar system to staff and the public.
THE ENVIRONMENTAL AND FINANCIAL BENEFIT
It is estimated the system will produce around 30,431 kW hours of electricity each year saving AirRoad around $8,000 per year on electricity costs. The greenhouse gas emission saving is estimated at being around 43.82 tonnes of CO2 per year.
AirRoad's Managing Director Malcolm Thorpe says "At AirRoad we are always looking at new ways to increase operational efficiesnces while reducing any negative impact that we may have on the environment. It started with our custom trailers, and now we have installed a leading solar power system that not only saves us money on electricity, but also helps reduce our clients' and our carbon footprint."
